XTec and SecuGen Team for Streamlined Card Lifecycle Management
The Hamster Pro Duo/SC offers a smaller footprint and is slated for deployment at Department of Homeland Security this spring.
Santa Clara, California (March 1, 2016) – SecuGen, world leading manufacturer of optical fingerprint technology and products together with XTec Incorporated, the industry leader in secure identity solutions, today announced a low-cost, dual factor fingerprint and smartcard reader, the Hamster™ Pro Duo/SC, which in combination with XTec AuthentXware Full Lifecycle Management, supports all post-issuance activities on PIV and PIV-I credentials. The newest iteration of SecuGen’s proven fingerprint reader line is compact, accurate and offered at a largely reduced price to enable enterprise deployments.
“It’s really important as a company that we offer not just the best performing technology but where hardware is involved, a compact and efficient solution,” said Kevin Kozlowski, XTec’s Executive Vice President. “With our enterprise software AuthentXware and the new Hamster Pro Duo/SC, our customers can perform all of their lifecycle maintenance securely and efficiently with a smaller footprint from the desktop.”
XTec AuthentXware allows PIV and PIV-I credential post-issuance and lifecycle maintenance activities such as card unlock, PIN change, certificate updates and card activation all from the desktop. By reducing the footprint of the hardware with the Hamster Pro Duo/SC, agencies can offer the ability to update expiring certificates on their identity cards enterprise-wide, reducing the risk of unnecessary card printing and improving business operations and efficiency. This is the case for all XTec PIV and PIV-I customers. The first rollout of the smaller footprint for full card lifecycle management includes over 500 units for the Department of Homeland Security, which already uses AuthentXware Full Lifecycle Management at the desktop.
Designed in partnership between XTec and SecuGen in order to complete XTec’s card lifecycle management offering for PIV and PIV-I customers, the Hamster Pro Duo/SC is SecuGen’s smallest fingerprint and card reader combination to date. The Hamster Pro Duo/SC will be on display and available for demonstration at Booth 4615 at the RSA Conference 2016 in San Francisco’s Moscone Center which runs from February 29 to March 4.
SecuGen CEO Won Lee added, “Our partnership with XTec is long and deep. Our continuing focus is and has always been to provide the best fingerprint technology, products and tools for our partners. The Hamster Pro Duo/SC is a natural result of our close partnership with XTec.”
